Course Objective:

The aim of this training product is to provide theory training in the following areas:

  • Identify and describe the background and policy of the drug and alcohol program in the workplace.
  • Apply the principles associated with  the role of the safety committee
  • Apply the procedures required to identify problems of fellow work mates in the workplace
  • Recognise various cultural, health and occupational factors influencing alcohol and other drug use.
  • Identify types and patterns of alcohol and other drug use in the workplace.
  • Describe and demonstrate how to recognise safety problems in the workplace that may be related to alcohol and other drug use.
  • Describe and demonstrate how to respond to a worker dangerously affected by alcohol and or other drugs, by removing the worker from the project.
  • Identify and analyse attitudes and prejudices to alcohol and other drug use.
  • Describe the workplace policy on the safe removal of syringes.

Course Prerequisite:

Participants are advised to hold intermediate numeracy, literacy and communication skills to read and comprehend written instructions.

Course Content: Nominal Hours - 8.
 
This course consists of one unit and participants must achieve competency across all performance criteria as detailed in Unit Code; ADW001 attached to Unit Title; Comply with alcohol and other drug policies in the workplace
 
Assessment:

Participants will be required to complete a written examination to be deemed competent.
