Course Objective:

The aim of this course is to provide theory training in the following areas:

  • Queensland Workplace health and Safety Legislation which pertains specifically to asbestos and demolition;
  • Hazards associated with demolition;
  • Risk management;
  • Asbestos removal techniques;
  • Work method statements;
  • Selection, maintenance, and correct use of personal protective equipment needed for the asbestos removal and disposal.
  • Outline resume requirement for certification

Course Prerequisite:

All participants must hold a current Workplace Health and Safety Officers Core Modules (1,2 & 3) Certificate. If obtained more than 12 months prior to the course, the participants must show proof of current activity in the workplace health and safety field in the construction industry. Participants are advised to hold intermediate numeracy, literacy and communication skills to read and comprehend written instructions and must be at least 18 years of age. To gain certification, the participant must provide written evidence of previous experience as a person in control of asbestos removal and disposal works.

Course Content: Nominal Hours – 16 hours
 
This course consists of two units (BCG3001A and RADA01) and participants must achieve competency across all performance criteria as detailed in each unit. The course was designed to offer the skills required by an individual to gain the theory knowledge associated and required for an individual to be deemed a competent person.

Assessment:

Participants will be required to complete both a written and practical examination, as well as provide evidence of involvement in past projects (eg. roles & work methods, references photographic evidence) to be deemed competent.
