Course Objective:
The aim of this training product is to provide theory and practical training in the following areas:
- Understanding all relevant obligations, requirements and responsibilities as well as obligations associated with working in a confined space.
- Apply legislation and duty of care.
- Apply basic concepts of risk management - prior, during and after working in a confined space and the importance of planning work procedures.
- The assessment of all health and safety issues associated with working within a confined space
- The control in the correct priority of all occupational health and safety issues associated with confined spaces
- Workplace hazards – identification, types, categories, control and reporting,
- Basic risk management concepts including the identification, assessment, control and evaluation of control measures.
- Plan and safely enter a building and construction confined space.
- Describe the key features associated with injuries and or death that occur due to confined space operations
- Inspect to determine safe usage of all relevant equipment.
- Apply the procedures for the rescue in the event of a collapse.
- Apply emergency procedures including Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
Course Prerequisite:
Participants are advised to hold intermediate numeracy, literacy and communication skills to read and comprehend written instructions equivalent to that of year 8 English.
Course Content: 24 Hours
This course contains three mandatory units. Training is conducted in an integrated way and the three units have a co-requisite relationship.

Unit Code; ECS01, attached to Unit Title; Enter Confined Spaces in Building and Construction Environments
Unit Code; CPR01, attached to Unit Title - Apply Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation
Assessment:
Participants will be required to complete a written and practical examination to be deemed competent.
