Course Objective:

The aim of this training product is to provide theory and practical training in the following areas:

  • To develop the skills and knowledge required to carry out tasks involving the

     safe procedures for the demolition of buildings.

  • Identify hazards on demolition sites and plan for safe demolition of a building.
  • To provide an overview of the legislative requirements for building demolition.
  • Assessment of Health and Safety associated with demolition.
  • Procedure to demolish and clean up site.

Course Prerequisite:

All participants must hold a current Workplace Health and Safety Officers Core Modules (1, 2 & 3) Certificate.  Participants are advised to hold intermediate numeracy, literacy and communication skills to read and comprehend written instructions and must be at least 18 years of age.  The participant needs to have had previous experience on a building site

Course Content: 16 Hours.
 
This course consists of five units and participants must achieve competency across all performance criteria as detailed in each unit.  The course was designed to offer the skills required by an individual to gain the theory knowledge associated and required for an individual to be deemed a competent person.

Assessment:

Participants will be required to complete a written examination as well as provide evidence of involvement in past projects (eg. roles & work methods, references photographic evidence) to be deemed competent.
