Course Objective:

The aim of this training product is to provide theory and practical training in the following areas:

  • The planning and preparation necessary to the performance of works associated with forklift operations.
  • The assessment of all occupational health and safety issues associated with forklift operations and associated equipment.
  • The control in the correct priority of all occupational health and safety issues associated with forklift operations and associated equipment.
  • Understanding all relevant obligations, requirements and responsibilities as well as concepts of a duty of care associated with forklift operations and associated equipment.
  • The inspection and appropriate repair and alteration of forklifts and associated equipment.
  • The performance of works associated with forklift operations in accordance with all relevant standards, legislative requirements and industry codes of practice pertinent to the area of works.

Course Prerequisite:

Given the technical nature of this program, participants are required to be able to speak and write English and have a sound understanding of mathematics. Participants that require an assessment will need to be 18 years of age or older.  This program will require participants to be-able to carry out heavy physical work.

Course Content: Nominal Hours 24

This course consists of one unit and participants must achieve competency across all performance criteria as detailed this each unit.
Unit Code; FKT13 attached to Unit Title; Manage procedures associated with forklift operations.

Assessment:

Participants will be required to complete a written and practical examination to be deemed competent.
