Course Objective:

The aim of this training product is to gain skills and knowledge that will assist the participants to produce, review and audit safety plans the training provides theory and practical training in the following areas:

  • Apply occupational health and safety legislation and obligations
  • Plan and prepare for safe work practices
  • Identify workplace hazards - types, categories, control and reporting
  • Describe the key features of common law and statute law
  • Develop communication procedures
  • Describe the risk management in relation to a construction safety management plan
  • Develop health and safety plans
  • Develop a risk management plan for a particular company
  • Receive and convey information
  •  Participate in a simple meeting process.
  •  Carry out incident investigation
  •  Carry out emergency procedures

Course Prerequisite:

Participants are advised to hold intermediate numeracy, literacy and communication skills to read and comprehend written instructions.

Course Content: Nominal Hours - 24
 
This course consists of one unit and participants must achieve competency across all performance criteria as detailed in Unit Code: WHSP001 attached to Unit Title: Develop Workplace Health and Safety Plans.

 
Assessment:

Participants will be required to complete a written and practical examination to be deemed competent.
