Course Objective:

The aim of this training product is to provide theory and practical training in the following areas:

  • The planning and preparation of works necessary for the operation of hoists.
  • The assessment of all occupational health and safety issues associated with the operation and erection of hoists.
  • The control, in the correct priority, of all occupational health and safety issues associated with hoists.
  • Understanding all relevant obligations, requirements and responsibilities as well as concepts of a duty of care associated with hoists.
  • The inspection and appropriate repair and alteration associated with the operation of hoists.
  • The operation of hoists in accordance with all relevant standards, legislative requirements and industry codes of practice pertinent to the area of works.
  • Correct selection and use of Flexible steel wire rope (FSWR) in the use of hoists

Course Prerequisite:

Participants are advised to hold intermediate numeracy, literacy and communication skills to read and comprehend written instructions. The participant needs to be able to work at height and have had previous experience on a building site.

Course Content: 16 Hours
 
This course consists of one unit and participants must achieve competency across all performance criteria as detailed in each unit.

Assessment:

Participants will be required to complete a written and practical examination to be deemed competent.
